Review:

Guddu Engineer is a short film that is currently streaming on ZEE5. It is a story of three friends living at a Hostel in Varanasi. Guddu, who can’t speak, falls in Love with Sonia. To celebrate her birthday, Guddu makes a list of her favourite things and try to fulfil them. I loved how the story started. How the friends helped him to get his Love. This movie has everything in it. A short movie with a strong message.

Cinematography:

I loved it. The shots of the Ghat are captured superbly. There are minute details captured that really add to this brilliant story. Each and every shot had a story to tell.

Tone:

The tone of romance was alive in the story until the very end. With shades of friendship, love, thrills, the movie is an emotional roller coaster. The dialogues between the characters feel very real yet have a strong emotional punch. In scenes where dialogues were few, their expressions said it all.

Acting and Music:

The acting of each and every actor is commendable. Each character had a story to tell in this movie. Their performances felt incredibly natural. The bond between three friends was a delight to watch. As you watch them bond, you will be reminded you of your college days.

My Perspective:

While I started watching the movie, I felt it was a love story but as the story proceeded, a major twist shocked me. It was a twist worth watching. I loved how there were subtle hints to the twist that were given may not be noticed by the viewer first.  The minute details made this movie a big hit.  I even loved the song in the movie which had really amazing lyrics. The direction of this movie is fantastic without any doubt. I loved how the events had been sequenced. Each and every event had a story to tell. This made the plot very inventive and unpredictable.

But what I liked most about the story is the central idea that – ‘No matter how you are, what you are, Your friends are always there helping you.’ Guddu who cannot speak expressed so many things. His tricks and techniques are something that I adored. In the end, the message of ‘Love Always Wins’ is conveyed successfully.

Overall, This short movie is a perfect watch for a weekend. It’s short, crisp and a movie with a strong message. So, I would highly recommend you check out Guddu Engineer on ZEE5!

I enjoy watching short films for the character building and story narration that happens within a much shorter time frame. This one looks interesting. Will try and watch it.
