It has been almost 8 months being in bookstagram community. It’s always great to share your thoughts with like-minded people. I have met so many people whom I now call friends. There are some knacks that you much go through, which will help you in the growth of your account.

Here we go!!

1: Interesting Pictures wins Hearts:

It’s not necessary to always have a theme, one may even post randomly. Your picture must be soothing enough that one likes to save it. It must be a good quality picture with some props or effects that make it look interesting.

2: Photos/ Play with effects and settings.

You don’t need to have DSLR to click photos, just a normal phone camera can do. Play with settings like brightness, saturation, contrast, shadow, highlight etc, rather than simply applying effects. It will add a good texture to your picture. I used Instagram settings for editing. You can use apps like picsart, photoshop etc for editing.

3: Caption on point.

Write an effective caption. ask questions in your post, It will gain interactions.Use hashtags in your posts. Using too many hashtags is also not good. keep everything in balance.

4: Follow, Interact, Comment!

Follow accounts, comment on posts, interact with fellow bookstagrammers. There’s always something new to learn from each of them.

5: Host Giveaways, Shoutout Sessions, contests.

Host giveaways, shoutout sessions, various contests. Upload stories, ask questions, have polls. It will help you with interaction and gain followers.

6: Post regularly with new ideas.

Post everyday one picture. it will help you in maintaining analytics. If not daily then one’s in two days. Post new ideas, themes or anything that you find attractive.
I have now started #signoftheday  where I upload a picture with a quote.

7: Tag and do Tags!!

Tag book feature accounts, authors, publishers. Do tags like #bookishfacts and others, participate and tag others to do it. It will create an impact. Tag people in stories, it will help in engagement.

8. Innovation is a key.

Try to be different, in a caption, or tags or images. Be interactive and Active. Upload stories. Try different props, colour combinations. Even simple things add beauty to your picture. Flowers, Scarfs, mugs, leaves, even books add a feather to your picture.

9: Use Hashtags!
Use hashtags in your cations but not too many. It makes post look messy.
#books #bookstagram #bookworms #bibliophile are some common hashtags which you can use. Tag accounts who feature bookish pictures.
